Kate Gallaher is a storyteller to her core - sometimes with a songwriter's pen and a guitar, sometimes with a camera. Some singer-songwriters build a career from coffeehouse stages on the back of journal-entry songs about adolescent love. That’s not the story Kate learned how to tell. Her first song: a tribute to a favorite middle school teacher diagnosed with cancer. Her first live performances: during mass at Our Lady of Grace and at a funeral for the lost child of a family friend. Kate’s uncommon gifts as an artist were forged in the fires of human struggle and loss, giving her both a voice and presence that is at once tender and urgent.
Born and raised in Minneapolis as the middle child between four brothers, Kate learned early to be a peace-maker and a problem solver and honed her songwriting gifts through her work with the Songs of Love Foundation, writing personal lyrics for child cancer patients. The unique path she has followed gives Kate's artistry a weightiness that many of her peers will spend years developing.
In 2015, Kate Gallaher relocated to Nashville, TN to sharpen her songwriting and live performance skills and has become a vital anchor in the creative community she has cultivated among other songwriters, artists, and music industry leaders. She has become known as much for her photographic acuity and visual storytelling as for her uncommon songwriting gift. In 2016, this entrepreneur independently recorded and released a collection of musical stories and began a professional photography business. Now, she splits her time behind the camera and in writing rooms across Nashville wrestling with her personal story of love and loss, tragedy and triumph.
